Today I went to see a replica of Christopher Columbus' ship the Nina. You remember that guy right? Thought he was in India, called the Native Americans Indians, replaced their culture with that of his own. Well, his ship is now parked for the time being at the Kona Kai resort on San Diego's Shelter Island. 93.6 feet long, 17.3 feet wide, and with a draft of only 7 feet, it's a sparce little ocean cruiser. Unfortunately you pay $5 and you only get to see the main deck. Take the kids they are cheaper ($3) and spend your five bucks at the hotel bar.

Yesterday I took this shot of the BMW/Oracle Trimaran. It's the America's Cup possible contender. It is undergoing sea trials here in San Diego. This is one of the most advanced sailing machines ever created and it's huge!!! It is 90ft x 90ft and with a mast that reaches to the heavens. Here, it is being towed back to dock by a small boat since it has no motor and it is too big and fast to operate safely in the bay.

Friday I went to the Miramar Air Show to try out the D300. The camera was awsome and so were the airplanes. The Blue Angels are amazing every time I see them. They fly so close to each other and at such a high rate of speed. It is almost insanity!!! One great thing about this event is it's free so I would highly recommend going. Many of the planes, helicopters, and tanks you can go inside. They even let you play with the machine guns! (minus the amo of course)

The San Diego Gay Rodeo Whoo Hoo!! Yes that's right gay people doing rodeo events. Some the real deal and others a little strange. My favorite was the event where two teams race to put underwear on a goat. Only in California!! But actually, it was great fun and it really looked like everyone had an awesome time. The above photo is some of the "Drag Race" contestants.

"Kyoto" The Exhibition opens in San Diego. It was a long day setting up on Monday but it's finished. A special thanks to all of those who helped out. My photo exhibition about Kyoto, Japan begins its first full day. Please stop by the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park to see what it's all about!
